Director Human Resources (m/f/d)


Position Purpose

The Director Human Resources enables the company’s growth across Europe and drives a high-performance culture by ensuring the availability of talent and continuously developing the company’s workforce in close alignment with the company’s overall strategy.

  • Travel Requirement: 20%

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes comprehensive and innovative HR vision and strategy, covering all company locations and aspects of an e-commerce player, including a large logistics facility, pharmacy, marketing and IT
  • Establishes framework for attracting and retaining key talent, including development of a compelling employer brand
  • Assesses and continuously improves all hire-to-retire processes - including payroll administration
  • Reviews and revises HR structures and HR policies/procedures; identifies and implements innovative HR practices
  • Designs, develops and executes:
  • Recruiting processes, including excellent selection processes
  • Efficient processes for collaboration with contract labor service providers to meet peak demands
  • Competitive compensation programs, covering monetary as well as other aspects
  • Workforce development programs, including talent and succession planning
  • Management and leadership concept and training for various management levels
  • Initiatives to improve absenteeism and employee turnover
  • HR controlling with recurring reporting of relevant HR performance data/KPIs
  • Performance management process
  • HR business partnership concept
  • Concepts and solutions for a variety of HR issues, such as flexible working times, shift models, health management, etc.
  • Leads periodic staffing and cost of labor forecasts and plans
  • Supports development and execution of internal communication plan
  • Advises management on organizational design
  • Takes the pulse of the organization and advises management on major issues from an employee perspective that are not sufficiently addressed or could jeopardize goal attainment
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable labor laws
  • Attracts, hires, develops and retains strong HR staff; continuously improves department performance and manages HR budget
  • Personally interviews final applicants for senior management positions
  • Is a member of selected company management teams; represents HR issues at executive management level
  • Other projects or tasks as assigned, including HR-related M&A due diligence and integration

Qualifications and Experience


  • University degree in relevant field
  • 6+ years of people management experience
  • Fluency in German & English
  • Hands on management of large-scale change initiatives


  • HR leadership position in a medium or large organization
  • HR experience in logistics and/or e-Commerce
  • Experience in labor law
  • Strong Dutch language skills; additional European languages are a plus
  • Experience with automation/digitalization of processes
