Venlo/Cologne, 15 January 2020. SHOP APOTHEKE came out on top of all companies evaluated in the renowned Email Marketing Benchmarks 2020 survey. Scoring 97.5 out of a possible 100 points, SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE’s German webshop also placed first among online pharmacies and in the overall Healthcare segment.
SHOP APOTHEKE had also been the top-rated online pharmacy in the previous year’s survey, then with a score of 76 points. The study – conducted by consultancy absolit and DDV (German Dialog Marketing Association) – evaluated a total of 5,017 companies in nine sectors such as Healthcare, Retail and Tourism in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The survey used 150 criteria in the dialogue, technology, security, new customer acquisition, legal compliance, automation and design categories to evaluate the quality of companies’ email marketing. SHOP APOTHEKE was rated better than its competitors in all seven areas and achieved the highest rating of 99 in the design, new customer acquisition and automation categories.

The study also shows that email marketing is still an important part in customer communications: Overall, 95 percent of more than 5,000 companies analyzed were using emails and newsletters for marketing purposes. Compared to online pharmacies, however, most companies are far from reaching their potential with an average score of just 54 percent across all sectors surveyed.
