SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE is currently undergoing a transformation process - from a classic online pharmacy to a customer-centric e-pharmacy platform. Many milestones have already been reached on this path, especially in the development and expansion of digital support services for patients.
Our offer is not limited to the dispatch of OTC or Rx medications: We also support a large number of patients in managing their therapy with the aim of increasing adherence, avoiding errors and achieving the best possible treatment results.
We are therefore particularly proud of “smart”, our expert therapy service for people with chronic diseases. As part of the “smart THERAPY PLUS” programme, specially trained health advisors take care of the individual therapy support of patients. Regardless of whether they need help with their medication treatment or have questions about everyday life with their specific chronic illness - our health advisors are available to our customers free of charge, without an appointment and without long waiting times. They accompany the individual course of therapy with competent expertise, practical tips and information about possible interactions, side effects and/or intolerances.
This personal advisory service is supplemented by indication-specific information brochures (“smart KNOWLEDGE”) and scientifically based online lectures by renowned experts on a wide range of health topics (“smart WEBINAR”).
Further expansion of digital health services
At the beginning of 2021, we further strengthened our health services in the area of digital medication management. With the acquisition of the Munich-based company SMARTPATIENT, we can now also offer our customers app-based therapy support. The “MyTherapy App”, which is already actively used by more than 1.4 million people in Europe, is suitable for a variety of chronic diseases. It supports therapy adherence, offers digital medication management, a diary for measured medical data / symptoms and printable health reports.
We gained further expertise in the field of digital medication management through the acquisition of the Dutch start-up MedApp. The app developed by the company enables patients to enter individual medication instructions, get an overview of their medicines and have the medications they need conveniently delivered to their homes. Access to indication-specific information and publications that are intended to improve adherence to therapy and quality of life round off the broad range of services.
Digitalisation will increasingly shape our understanding of health care in the future. To what extent and at what speed depends strongly on the further design of the political framework. We contribute our experience and expertise to the process through continuous exchange with political decision-makers.
